State capital is Bregenz, although Dornbirn and Feldkirch are larger cities in terms of population. Vorarlberg is the westernmost federal-state of Austria. Although it is the second smallest in terms of area and population, it borders three countries: Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg via Lake Constance), Switzerland (Graubuenden and St. Gallen) and Liechtenstein. The only Austrian federal state that shares a border with Vorarlberg is Tyrol to the east.
